1914 -- Paramount Pictures is formed.
1940 -- Eric Hilliard 'Ricky' Nelson was born in Teaneck,
New Jersey. When he began to sing on 'Ozzie and
Harriett,' he became the first multi-media phenomenon of
television and paved the way for the David Cassidys,
Jonas Brothers' and more of latter generations.
1952 -- Mad Magazine premieres.
1961 -- British actor James Fairfax, best known for his
role as Cedric the Steward in 'My Little Margie' at the age
of 63. Although born in Yorkshire, he died in Tahiti.
1978 -- ABC aired 'Stars Salute Israel at 30.' Guests
included Anne Bancroft, Henry Winkler, Pat and Debby
Boone, Barry Manilow, Gabe Kaplan and Flip Wilson,
among others.
1984 -- Proving that Joannie really did love Chachi, the
two characters married on 'Happy Days' and launched
them on a short-lived spinoff.
1987 -- The character of 'Pam Ewing' was killed off on
Dallas. Sadly, the death wasn't the result of a dream by
her husband Bobby.
1994 -- Silver-haired George Peppard died of
complications from pneumonia. On television he was
best known as Polish insurance investigator 'Banacek'
and as the leader of 'The A-Team,' who always 'loved it
when a plan comes together.'
1999 -- Dana Plato, late of 'Diff'rent Strokes,' died of an
apparent overdose. According to Imdb.com, she won the
lead role in the film 'Pretty Baby' but declined it. The role
eventually went to Brooke Shields.
